I don’t care what health experts say. Brunch is actually the most important meal of the week. What other meal allows you to drink mimosas, catch up with your friends, and get a break from the world’s chaos? Plus, the ability to choose pancakes or burgers? It’s truly inspired! Louisiana knows a thing or two about making an unforgettable meal. If you’re looking for the best spot for a Sunday brunch in Baton Rouge, I’d love to give you a short list of some of my faves.
3 Spots for Sunday Brunch in Baton Rouge for Delicious Meals & Great Atmospheres
Spoke & Hub
Spoke and Hub is a downtown restaurant that prides itself on providing “Americana fare with a Southern twist.” Their menu is a beautiful blend of both the innovative and the classics. You can get chicken fried biscuits, sweet or savory croffles, hash puppies, and breakfast burritos.
The DIY pancakes are positively divine and let you indulge your sweet tooth. The Brakes Bar lets you select from a wide range of cocktails. And while the food is wonderful, the atmosphere sets it apart. The restaurant has a large patio and a cozy interior, so you can gossip comfortably.
Elsie’s Plate & Pie
Elsie’s Plate & Pie is an eatery designed to feel like comfort home cooking. Paul Dupré started the space to honor his grandmother by giving the restaurant both her name and recipes. When you come in, you’ll be treated to foods that have stood the test of time.
Their brunch includes Bayou fry bread, hand pies, and crawfish plates. You’ll be able to enjoy classic cocktails like mimosas and Bloody Marys and some new ones such as cold brew cocktails. The interior is open and airy, with hanging lights and industrial finishes. It’s the perfect option for unwinding at the end of the weekend.
The Overpass Merchant
The Overpass Merchant is a trendy spot filled with food you’ll dream about all week long. The menu features tried and true classics and updated dishes your entire group will adore. Whether you love avocado toast or prefer to stick to a chicken biscuit, The Overpass Merchant has you covered. The plates at the restaurant feature beloved Southern options such as shrimp and grits.
You can also choose from a long list of refreshing cocktails, including screwdrivers and Bloody Marys. The restaurant is located right off Perkins Road beneath the overpass. It features both patio and cozy indoor seating for your party.
